ULM Faculty Artists Series to feature Trio DeCeard on Nov. 10

The Council on Social Work Education recently reaffirmed the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s social work department’s accreditation through 2015. The CSWE sets standards for social work programs around the country.

Music Faculty Conducts Regional Workshop
Dr. Mark R. Clark, Director of Opera and Musical Theatre at ULM, will be presenting his Acting/Singing workshops for a combined Oklahoma and Texas regional conference of 700 students of voice on the campus of Texas Tech University on November 6.  The conference and competition is sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

ULM Institute of Gerontology Receives $30,000 for Medicare Outreach
The Institute of Gerontology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe received a $30,000 grant for a survey project titled “Statewide Outreach Assessment and Survey of Low Income Medicare Recipients.”

University of Louisiana at Monroe faculty member Dr. Christian Rubio, assistant professor of Spanish, was selected to plan a new publishing house sponsored by the Academia Norteamericana de la Lengua Española.

ULM’s KEDM 90.3 Public Radio names News and Public Affairs Director
KEDM public radio, 90.3 FM, announces the addition of Bob Lenox to its staff as the station’s news and public affairs director. The station broadcasts from the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

ULM to host art show “We Saw the Wrecked” Oct. 12 - Nov. 5
The University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Division of Art will present a solo painting exhibition by Michael Stillion titled “We Saw the Wrecked” from Oct. 12-Nov. 5 in the Bry Art Gallery. The exhibition is free and open to the public from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and from 8 a.m.-Noon on Fridays. A “Gallery Talk” with the artist will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Listeners of ULM's public radio get "jazzed" with addition of KEDM2
KEDM 90.3 FM, the public radio station housed at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, is now broadcasting KEDM2 Jazz, a second channel of excellent KEDM programming throughout northeast Louisiana.

Dr. Robert Hanser of the department of criminal justice, along with the co-director Dr. Pamela Saulsberry, head of the department of social work, recently obtained the $299,995 grant through the Department of Justice's Office on Violence against Women.
