CenturyLink Reader Leaders


The College of Art, Education and Sciences along with DREAM office at the University of Louisiana at Monroe are partnering with CenturyLink on an exciting program that brings the college and careers into the classroom through guest speakers from CenturyLink, ULM pre-service teachers and children’s picture books that build financial literacy.

CenturyLink Reader Leaders, was piloted last Spring at Berg Jones Lane Elementary School, where the books My Rows and Piles of Coins by Tololwa M. Mollel and Uncle Jed's Barbershop by Margaree King Mitchell , were read aloud to 3rd and 4th grade students by a ULM teacher candidates and CenturyLink employees who engaged students in a meaningful conversations around the themes of the books.

CenturyLink Reader Leaders is designed to meet the ELA Common Core State Standards for Speaking and Listening and focus on key vocabulary and concepts related to economics and financial literacy.
