Publications from English
turnrow

This biannual journal contains nonfiction of general interest, short fiction, poetry, visual arts, and interviews. In addition to its general search for fine work of any type, turnrow seeks nonfiction by people who are not primarily writers, work by writers writing out of their usual genre, and nonfiction that concerns an intersection between science and humanities.

The ULM Hawkeye

ULM English took over the publication of ULM's student newspaper, The ULM Hawkeye, in the spring of 2006. The newspaper has been in publication for 74 years. It brings news interest to the university and provides students interested in print media and publications the chance to work in a real-world news editorial environment.

The Chacahoula

ULM English has produced the university yearbook, The Chacahoula, since the summer of 2004. The book has a 74 year history. It helps to document the history of the university and acts as a stimulus of memory for students and alumni who want to look back on their glory days.

The Helicon

The Helicon takes student writers, editors, and staff, through the entire publishing process, from fund-raising to short story, essay, and poetry selection, to layout and design. The magazine and its contributors often win awards in writing competitions for undergraduate writers.

Words and Letters

Words and Letters is ULM English's annual newsletter in which faculty, students, and alumni can read about the many events sponsored by ULM English; updates to the ever-evolving world of all things English, the department, and the university; and discover the many accomplishments of ULM English faculty and students.

Textbooks

ULM English writes and edits the textbooks Directions, Academic Writings: Stepping Stones to The Professions, and Bridges.
