Dr. Laurie Babin is the holder of the Abell Endowed Professorship in Entrepreneurship.
Babin earned a bachelor of science in engineering from Michigan State University in 1982, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida in 1987 and a doctorate in business administration from Louisiana State University in 1992.
In addition, Babin is a Commander in the United States Navy.
Babin is an associate professor of marketing in the College of Business Administration. She joined the University of Louisiana at Monroe's faculty in 2007 and teaches numerous courses in marketing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Before coming to ULM, she was a tenured professor at the University of Southern Mississippi. Her research interests include marketing, advertising and consumer behavior.
Babin's research has been published in numerous scholarly journals, including the "Journal of Advertising," "Journal of Business Research," and the "Journal of Consumer Marketing."
She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the Association for Small Business & Entrepreneurship, the Academy of Marketing Science and the American Academy of Advertising.

The Abell Endowed Professorship in Entrepreneurship was established in 1996 by Mr. Nelson Abell Jr. to help support the teaching and research activities of an eminent business scholar.
