Dr. Christine C. StrunkDr. Christine C. Strunk is the holder of the Capital One Professorship in Mathematics.

Dr. Strunk is an associate professor of mathematics and has been a member of the faculty since 2006.

Strunk earned her Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin—La Crosse.  She continued her education in Mathematics at Purdue Univeristy and obtained her Masters in 2001 and her Ph.D. in 2005.

Strunk’s latest research focuses on Commutative Ring Theory. Her research is focused on ideals, their reductions, their associated rings, and their cores. This field has applications in Theoretical Physics, Algebraic Geometry, and advanced Cryptology. 

Strunk has published several research papers in the Journal of Algebra and the Illinois Journal of Mathematics.  She has also given presentations at the University of Chicago, University of Notre Dame, Baylor University, and in San Francisco, Calif.

In addition to her research, Strunk has received the Dean’s Award for Service for organizing several successful Sonia Kovalevsky Days, working on numerous committees including in the community, advising Kappa Mu Epsilon (ULM’s Mathematics Honor Society), and restructuring the departmental webpage.
