Ms. Janis Weber is the holder of the Alumni Professorship in Accounting.
Ms. Janis Weber is an instructor of accounting and has been a faculty member in the College of Business and Social Sciences since 2008.
Weber earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Arkansas System. She went on to earn an MBA from Regis University.
Weber’s research interests involve contributions to practical accounting knowledge (joint appeal to practitioner and educator) and pedagogical issues relating to interactive techniques to increase student engagement in accounting classes.
Since joining the ULM faculty in 2008, Weber has represented ULM as a presenter at four conferences and published three peer-reviewed journal articles, in addition to co-authoring a lecture notes workbook for the introductory financial accounting course.
Weber’s other achievements include being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) as well as being a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
Weber also has more than twenty years of experience as a proprietor of a public accounting practice, specializing in tax and advisory services to physicians and small businesses.
While working in public accounting, she was extensively involved in community and professional organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, community theatre, her church, as well as various committees for the American Institute of CPAs and the Louisiana Society of CPAs.
Weber also served as a 1995 Presidential Appointee to the White House Conference on Small Business, the recommendations of which have been incorporated into untold numbers of congressional bills since that date.
