Welcome to the ULM Department of Gerontology, Sociology and Political Science! We  offer bachelor degrees in Sociology, Political Science and minors in Gerontology and Anthropology.  We also house the nations first NAB accredited Graduate Program in Gerontology, which also happens to be the only Gerontology Masters Program  in Louisiana.  We offer multiple courses completely online and our Gerontology Program was the first Fully Online Degree at ULM.
  • Gerontology  is the study of the processes of aging and  it includes the perspectives of numerous disciplines concerned with the physical, mental and social aspects of life.
  • Sociology is the scientific study of social interaction, social networks, and social issues that link people to each other and to society.
  • Political Science is the study of governments, public policies and political processes, systems, and political behavior.
  • Anthropology is the study of sociocultural patterns and the biological development of humans and human societies through time.
All four disciplines are intended to acquaint sudents with social science methods and perspectives needed to understand their society and the world. All four provide students with knowledge and skills of analysis that will prepare them for entry into many occupations and for the pursuit of many different types of post-baccalaureate professional and graduate studies.
