ULM College of Health Sciences
Curriculum Committee Meeting
Wednesday, October 4, 2006
The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. by Chair, Peggy Meredith. In attendance were Andy Allen, Sara Allen, Kathy Davenport, Emmy Doughty, Donna Eichhorn and Norma Johnson.
A. Proposal from the Department of Communicative Disorders
Sarah Allen explained the proposed changes to the Communicative Disorders Undergraduate Degree Plan. She reviewed the packet (see attached) and pointed out that signatures for Department Heads affected still needed to be obtained. The committee suggested that the catalog changes could be more accurately reflected if a page from the current print catalog be used rather than the online one submitted, as the online version does not appear to be current.
Emily Doughty moved that the changes to the Communicative Disorders plan be tentatively approved contingent on obtaining the signatures of all affected department heads. The motion was seconded by Kathy Davenport and approved unanimously.
B. Proposal from the Department of Occupational Therapy
Donna Eichhorn explained the proposed changes to the Occupational Therapy Assistant Degree Plan. She reviewed the packet (see attached) addressed questions from the committee. Issues related to the title of one course and summer scheduling issues were discussed. One correction was noted in credit hours designation. The Chair pointed out that no signature of a department head was needed for the AHSC course deletion, as there is no ASHC department.
Sarah Allen moved that the proposed OCCT 200 be titled “Seminar: Professional Development.” Emily Doughty seconded and the motion was approved unanimously.
Emily Doughty moved that the UCC Course Addition Form for OCCT 204 be corrected to reflect that there are zero class hours a week and three lab hours a week. Kathy Davenport seconded the motion which then passed unanimously.
Peggy Meredith informed the group that the University Curriculum Committee is scheduled to meet on October 12 at 3:30 in Airway Science Room 316. Persons who need to attend will be advised. The next meeting of the College Committee is scheduled for November 2.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
