Curriculum Committee Meeting
Tuesday, October 31, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. by Chair, Peggy Meredith. In attendance were Andy Allen, Sara Allen, Debbie Wisenor, Emmy Doughty, Donna Eichhorn and Norma Johnson.

Business:
A. Follow-up of Proposal from the Department of Communicative Disorders
As requested, Sarah Allen provided the committee with catalog pages from the current ULM print catalog, as well as the UCC signature page form with all required signatures, including those of heads of departments who would be affected by changes. The proposal (which was tentatively approved at the last meeting) was cleared to be presented at the next University Curriculum committee meeting on November 9.

B. Proposal from the Bachelor of Science in Health Studies Program

Jessica Dolecheck discussed with the committee the background of the new BSHS undergraduate program and process to approval by the Board of Regents on September 28, 2006.

She then explained the rational, major objectives, and track options of the program. The committee reviewed the ULM UCC ADDING A DEGREE PLAN OR PROGRAM OF STUDY document and other required documents.

The committee then reviewed all required documents for each of the ten new courses in the program (HLST 201, 301, 302, 303, 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406). Questions, editorial comments, and full discussion of each were addressed which resulted in necessary corrections that would need to be made prior to moving the proposal forward.

Emily Doughty moved that no action be taken on the proposal until the revisions could be reviewed by the committee. The motion was seconded by Andy Allen. The motion was approved.
