Curriculum Committee Meeting

Tuesday, November 28, 2006

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. by Chair, Peggy Meredith.  In attendance were Andy Allen, Sarah Allen, Debbie Wisenor, Emmy Doughty, Kathy Davenport and Norma Johnson.

 

Business:

A.  Proposal from the Department of Dental Hygiene

            Beverly Jarrell presented a request to designate DH 430 as the Capstone course for Dental Hygiene and to add Social Work 403/408 to their degree plan.  Input from the committee was given regarding wording and the need for a signature from the Department Head of Social Work.

           

B.  Proposal from the School of Nursing

            Emily Doughty presented a request to designate NURS 430 as the Capstone course for
Nursing and to assign a three credit hour requirement to an appropriate Nursing elective.  Input from the committee was given to clarify wording and to assure that all Nursing tracts from the catalog were included in the packet.
            Emily Doughty also presented a request to remove NURS 422/423.  She explained the
Rationale, including the fact that these courses had not been taught in several years.  The committee suggested additional wording for the purpose of clarification.

 

C.  Follow-up of Proposal from the Bachelor of Science in Health Studies Program

            Jessica Dolecheck disseminated updated documents to the committee.  The committee reviewed all changes made, including the designation of Health Informatics as a separate course, and the designated Capstone course.

 

D.  Committee Executive Session

            Sarah Allen moved that all proposals be tentatively accepted, pending inspection of final documents by committee chair.  Debbie Wisenor seconded the motion.  The motion was approved.

 

E.  Other:

            The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
