UPDATE ON HURRICANE ISAAC
Wednesday, August 29, 2012
Dear Colleagues,
Due to the expected heavy rains and winds tonight and tomorrow, today's classes beginning at or after 4:00 p.m., will be cancelled and will resume Tuesday, September 4.
Administrative offices will close at 5:30 p.m. today and will resume Friday, August 31 at 7:30 a.m.
Certain student and campus service functions will be available during the closure, and those employees will be informed by their supervisors. This is required to provide services to resident students.
Hours of operation for those facilities remaining open will be posted on this Web page.
I will communicate with you tomorrow afternoon should weather conditions warrant any changes. Please continue to check this web page for updates.
Please be careful if you are travelling.
Sincerely,

UPDATE ON HURRICANE ISAAC
Tuesday, August 28, 2012
Dear Colleagues,
The Emergency Response Team met again this morning to address potential issues regarding Hurricane Isaac.
We were joined by Dr. Shelley Jones, regional medical director of Louisiana's Department of Health and Hospitals.
Under an existing agreement, ULM's Fant-Ewing Coliseum is equipped to serve as a Special Needs Shelter. DHH will provide medical services to the shelter, and Louisiana's Department of Children and Families Services will operate the shelter.
Planning and preparations are completed for our campus community. We continue to monitor weather advisories and Dr. Pani, Vice President for Academic Affairs, is closely analyzing data from National Weather Service. Your safety and that of our students is the basis of all decisions, as well as actions taken.
Tomorrow morning—Wednesday, Aug. 29—our administrative team will again meet at 10:00 a.m., or SOONER if conditions warrant AN EARLIER ASSESSMENT.
At that time, we will decide if conditions warrant cancellation of classes, and you will be notified. In addition to sending an email, updates will be posted on this web page.
Once again, please feel free to contact me with your questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nick J. Bruno
President

UPDATE ON TROPICAL STORM ISAAC
Monday, August 27, 2012
Dear Colleagues,
Earlier this morning, I asked our Emergency Response Team to convene and address any potential issues regarding Tropical Storm Isaac.
In addition, I asked our Office of Public Information to create this web site which will provide information regarding Isaac’s potential impact on ULM. I want to reassure you that ULM is prepared to meet any challenges Isaac presents.
If necessary, and only if we face an imminent threat to our campus, we will activate FirstCall, our emergency mass notification system that issues alerts via e-mail, text message and telephone.
If you have not done so already, I urge you to register your contact information so that you will receive these notices.
Submit your contact information using the FirstCall website at https://alertregistration.com/ulmonroe
Under an existing agreement, ULM's Fant-Ewing Coliseum is in the process of being transformed into a Special Needs Shelter. The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Louisiana Social Services will operate the shelter.
Our administrative team continues to monitor the storm, and we will keep you apprised of any developments as they affect ULM.
As always, please feel free to contact me with your questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nick J. Bruno
President
