University of Louisiana at Monroe alum, Dr. Stephen Bell, professor of sociology at the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout Mo., was recently named one of NerdScholar’s top "40 under 40: Professors who Inspire."

According to their website, NerdScholar's inaugural "40 Under 40" celebrates professors who are cultivating passion in their students. Chosen based on nominations highlighting their love of teaching, the honored professors are inspiring the young adults of today to be the world leaders and humanitarians of tomorrow.

In Bell's profile written for the NerdScholar website, Eric Bolger, dean of the College of the Ozarks said, "Stephen Bell is a magnet for students at our college. Bell is a professor of sociology, but students from all majors flock to his classes to take part in his engaging and lively discussions."

"For the past eight years, Bell and his family have been a constant and welcome presence on the campus. Bell, who is also a licensed marriage and family therapist, says he hopes his classes will help start movements that 'change the direction of today's family and society for future generations.'"

Bell received his Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from ULM in 2008. He credits ULM’s Dr. Lamar Woodham for helping him become a successful educator.

The College of the Ozarks is a private, Christian liberal-arts college, located at Point Lookout, near Branson and Hollister, Mo.
