ULM students and faculty serve at rad tech conference

Faculty and students from the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s radiologic technology program recently attended the 57th Annual Meeting of the Louisiana Society of Radiologic Technologists (LSRT) in New Orleans. The ULM cohort participated in presentations and served in official capacities during the conference.

Program Director, Brett Bennett, was presented with a plaque at the Presidential Banquet, recognizing his service as past president, board member, and outgoing chairman of the board. Bennett also presented a lecture titled “Preventing Common Mistakes in Digital Imaging.”

Assistant Professor Jennifer Michael was elected Recording Secretary for the LSRT, and was officially sworn into office during the Presidential Banquet. Michael’s position will allow her to serve on the 2014-2015 LSRT Executive Board, continuing the tradition of the ULM Radiologic Technology faculty’s service to the state’s professional society.

Students Holly Dodson of Jonesboro and Brittney Matlock of Rayville assisted with quiz bowl preparations. Students also participated in the Scientific Essay or Scientific Exhibit competitions.

During the Student Advisory Council meeting, Sarah Webb of Many presented a lecture titled “Bizarre X-Rays.”

Ferrell led the student conference meeting as chair of the LSRT Student Advisory Council, with assistance from Newman, who, serves as the vice chair of the LSRT Student Advisory Council. Ferrell and Newman were elected at the previous LSRT Meeting in March 2014 and will continue their positions until March 2015.
