ULM School of Construction to host "Digger's Night Out"

The University of Louisiana at Monroe's School of Construction, in conjunction with the Ouachita Parish Joint Utility Council, will host its third annual Digger's Night Out on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001. Digger's Night Out is a nationwide program focusing on underground utility damage prevention and safety education. The program will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the University Conference Center on the seventh floor of the University Library.

This free safety awareness program, sponsored by public utilities, pipelines, and communication companies, is geared toward foremen, operators and anyone who digs underground.

Guest speaker for the program will be Vic Weston, President of Tri-State Road Boring, Inc., and Chairman of the AGC Municipal Utilities Division. Mr. Weston will discuss rules and regulations for location and damage prevention for underground utilities. A short film will show the dangers of digging underground, and the mandatory steps contractors and foremen need to take before starting any digging job.

A buffet style dinner will be served, and numerous door prizes will be awarded.
