ULM Art Department represented at Arts Festival this weekend

The Department of Art at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is represented in the 36th Annual Peyton Memorial Arts Festival in Alexandria.

Robert G. Ward, professor of painting and drawing at ULM, will represent the university in this competition with a landscape acrylic on canvas painting titled "Immersion" and a re-figured acrylic on canvas painting titled "Aquatic Intrusion".

Regional artists and artists originally from the mid-south who are now residing elsewhere were eligible to submit in competition up to three examples of two-and-three-dimension fine art forms created in the past two years. Submissions were jurored by Lake Charles professional artist Anne Dentler, who curated the exhibition.

An artist's reception will be held in the exhibition facility of the sponsoring First United Methodist Church, 2727 Jackson Street in Alexandria, on Friday evening April 12. The exhibition will continue coupled with a weeklong musical festival through April 20.
