One-Person Senior Art Exhibition

The Bry Art Gallery is currently showing a One-person Senior Exhibition in Graphic Design by April Parks of Rayville. Parks has titled her exhibition "Feline Distortions" to identify her signature image, the domestic cat.

On display is the artist's senior portfolio which includes samples of her best work executed in graphic design classes. Accompanying this commercial art endeavor are acrylic on canvas paintings/illustrations of cats of arbitrary colorations, fantasy minotaurs and hamsters, and a suite of twelve cat portraits with purposeful distortion plus cats adorned with bird plumage. he artist has also included an achromatic self-portrait acrylic painting derived from a reflected surface that altered her image.

Also included in this exhibition are a suite of distorted cat pencil drawings and a computer generated "court of cats" as face playing cards.

Cats also appear as stoneware ceramic sculpture, along with other animal forms and some non-objective ceramics. raditional glazed stoneware ceramics also appear in the form of plates, platters, vases and other containers.

Ms. Parks' exhibition will be on view through August 9. The Bry Art Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. An artist's reception will be held at the gallery on Friday, August 6 at 6:30 p.m.
