ULM Awards 405 Diplomas at Fall Commencement

ULM President James E. Cofer Sr. conferred degrees and awarded diplomas at ULM's fall 2005 commencement. University of Louisiana at Monroe alum and former Director of Athletics Bruce Hanks delivered the commencement address. Hanks was also the president of the ULM Foundation and past president of the ULM Alumni Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for CenturyTel, Inc. and on the Advisory Board for IberiaBank in northeast Louisiana.

Tassa Jeannice Avara of Walker, La., was the top graduate for the Fall 2005 class with a grade point average of 3.92. Avara, who received a bachelor of arts in elementary education, is the wife of Brian Avara and the daughter of Fran and Edna Tibbitt.

Several honor graduates were recognized during the ceremonies. They are designated as summa cum laude (3.900-4.000), magna cum laude (3.750-3.899) and cum laude (3.500-3.749).
