ULM to Host 53rd Annual Miss ULM Scholarship Pageant

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will host the 53rd Annual Miss ULM Scholarship Pageant, Thursday, October 20 at 7 p.m. in Brown Auditorium on the ULM campus. The theme of this year's pageant is "All That Jazz" and Miss Louisiana 2005 Molly Causey will be the emcee.

There are nine contestants this year. Katherine Putnam is a vocal performance freshman from Oak Grove; Michelle Mayer is a doctor of pharmacy senior from Monroe; Crista Bush is a psychology freshman from Vidalia; Aymee Bonilla is a doctor of pharmacy junior from Monroe; Natalie DeMoss is a nursing junior from Monroe; Erica Durr is a toxicology freshman from Marthaville; Nicolle Sims is an atmospheric science sophomore from Monroe; Heather Davis is a biology freshman from Spring, Texas; and Brittney Parker is a business management senior from West Monroe.

Entertainment for the pageant will be provided by the ULM Warbonnets, Molly Causey, and Miss ULM 2005, Lori Leggitt. Contestants will compete in several events including talent, evening wear, physical fitness and swimsuit competition.

The new Miss ULM will receive a tuition scholarship, private on-campus apartment, bookstore award, and meal plan for two semesters given by Campus Activities Board as well as a $4000 cash award given by the ULM Student Government Association. The 1st runner up will receive a tuition scholarship for two semesters given by CAB, 2nd runner up will get a tuition scholarship for one semester given by CAB. 3rd runner up receives a one time $1000 scholarship award given by the SGA, and the 4th runner up will receive a one time $750 scholarship award given by the SGA. $250 awards will also be given to the Advertisement sales winner, the Peoples Choice Award, which is voted on by the student body, and the Miss Congeniality Award, voted on by the contestants.

The Miss ULM pageant is an official preliminary for the Miss Louisiana Pageant and for the second consecutive year, ULM was awarded the Largest College Scholarship from the Miss Louisiana Organization. Miss ULM 2006 will reign from Spring 2006 to Fall 2006.
