Students study hurricane behavior

Hurricane expert Robert Howard, assistant professor of atmospheric science at ULM conducted a special practice centered on studying hurricane behavior Saturday, July 8, at the field behind Heard (tennis) Stadium.

In addition to addressing safety procedures, Howard taught students how to set up equipment. The team assembled one or more 2 m towers, including instruments, to learn procedures and to expedite the set-ups in the event of an actual hurricane. The group then dismantled some equipment and left it some up for several days to test instruments and data acquisition systems.
