Wine Over Water event set for May 23

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Alumni Association and the Ouachita Parish Alumni Chapter invite everyone to get a "taste of the university" as they host Wine Over Water, an exciting new event Tuesday, May 23 from 7-10 p.m. on the ULM campus.

As ULM's 75th Anniversary approaches, guests will experience a new tradition by strolling across the historic Bayou DeSiard Bridge beside the library while sampling wine and hors d'oeuvres from various local restaurants. Wine Over Water is ULMs premier wine-tasting event, with proceeds benefiting ULM scholarship funds. Tickets are $50 per person.

On the bridge, guests will be served delectable food samples from Cormier's, Thurman's, Copeland's, Waterfront Grill, Canard's, The Brandy House, Danken Trail, Bountiful Foods, Aramark, LaBella Vita, Sports City Grill, Catfish Cabin, Warehouse No. 1, Bennigans, Beignet Café, and Genusa's. Feature wines will be provided by Tonore's Wine Cellar, beverages will be provided by Marsala Beverage and Coca-Cola, and complimentary wine will be provided by Glazer's.

Guests will enjoy live entertainment by the Harmon Drew Super Group while cruising the beautiful Bayou DeSaird on a party barge provided by Letsinger Marine. Patty Stewart Photography will provide photography for the evening.

Guests will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a Napa Valley Trip for two. This prize includes roundtrip airfare for two from Monroe to San Francisco, a rental car and three nights accommodations at the Vintage Inn or similar in Napa Valley. While there, individuals may tour the wine country, rejuvenate at legendary spas and sample world-class cuisine.

Raffle tickets are only $25 each and participants do not need to be present to win. Some restrictions apply.

Wine Over Water would not be complete without an additional raffle of ULM items showcasing the university: athletic tickets, artwork, theatre tickets, attire, 75th Anniversary collectables, and more.

The attire is dressy casual (no denim or shorts, please), and tickets can be purchased at the ULM Alumni Center. Tickets can also be mailed. Contact 318-342-5420 or 800-261-0174 for more information.

Additional sponsors include Ouachita Indian Bank, Johnny's Pizza, Automated Imaging Systems, Retro Inc., IberiaBank, Herbert Land Architect, State Farm Agents, Bancorp South, Kim's Closet, Donald K Hammett, MD, and Entergy.
