Military/Spirit Day Oct. 21

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will host Military/Spirit Day at Malone Stadium before the home football game against Middle Tennessee State University Saturday, Oct. 21. Pre-game activities start at 9 a.m. at Brown Stadium.

Military Day honors POWs, MIAs, military and reserve personnel, and their employers. All military personnel are asked to wear their uniforms and invite their employers.

There will be a high school JROTC drill team competition at 9 a.m. at Brown Stadium.

Those arriving before the football game may visit with each of the military branches in the Grove area. Attendees may try the Army’s climbing wall, the Navy’s stimulator, the Marine’s chin-ups, and the Air Force’s challenge. There will be several military displays and equipment on site.

At 5:45 p.m. at Malone Stadium, skydivers will bring in the American flag and the game ball, followed by a B-52 fly-over at 5:53 p.m. The B-52s are with the 917th Wing out of Barksdale Air Force Base.

The ULM Band will perform at the opening ceremony and at half time. The Air Force JROTC from West Monroe High School will present the colors. Each branch of service will carry their flag on the field at half time.
