Former ULM president in stable condition

Former ULM President Dr. George T. Walker fell ill during Envision ULM Nov. 15 in the Monroe Civic Center. He was taken by ambulance to St. Francis North Hospital, where he will remain over the weekend for observation.


Dr. Walker is in stable condition, and according to his son, George Walker Jr., Dr. Walker is "alert and resting comfortably."

ULM President James Cofer and his wife First Lady Deborah Cofer send their best to Dr. Walker and his family.

"Dr. Walker is one of the pillars of this great institution. George has been a friend to me since the first day I arrived, and I continue to consult with him. We wish him the best, and he will be in our thoughts and prayers, as always," Dr. Cofer said.

Dr. Walker served as ULM's president from 1958 to 1976.
