Wilson to discuss manifestations of the divine at Black Bayou June 27

Dr. Holly Wilson, ULM associate professor of philosophy, will give a reading from her work in progress, titled "Divine Musings: Manifestations of the Divine at Black Bayou" Friday, June 27, beginning at 7 p.m. at Black Bayou.

The work is a collection of vignettes in the genre of nature writing.

In the event description, Wilson includes, "Have you ever felt a kind of calm and peace in nature you don't normally feel in human society? It could be because the divine manifests itself in nature . . . Come and hear how alligators manifest the divine as a predator, how the Great Blue Heron manifests the contemplative side of the divine, how fish show the otherness of the divine, how deer reveal the divine as prey, and how water makes clear the calmness and the fury of the divine. Learn how humans manifest animal strategies to survive and propagate their kind. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will think. But most of all you will learn how humor and wit and seeing things from the inside manifest the divine in you."
