VAPA Day 2008 set for Oct. 24

All high school juniors, seniors and transfer students interested in music, art, theatre, and dance are in luck – the University of Louisiana Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts is ready to answer their questions at VAPA Day 2008 Friday, Oct. 24, in Brown Theatre from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

The event, also hosted by Enrollment Management, will present information and assistance concerning auditions and portfolios and entry into college life.

Check-in begins from 8:30-9 a.m. at Brown Theatre, followed by a welcome, during which there will be mini-performances by the divisions of music, drama, and dance. Breakout sessions and workshops will also occur. After lunch, students will have the option of campus tours and a residence hall open house.

Auditions and portfolios factor into the afternoon sessions, conducted from 1:30-3:30 p.m. The auditions are also for talent grants/scholarships. Senior and transfer students can sign up in advance for an audition time or do so during check-in at VAPA Day.

High school students who are interested in singing are invited to remain until 4 p.m. when there will be a master class with Joey Evans, a well-known professional tenor. This event will take place in the Biedenharn Recital Hall, and is free and open to the public.
