ULM Museum of Natural History presents fall lecture on Darwin Nov. 24

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Museum of Natural History celebrates the 150th anniversary of biologist Charles Darwin's controversial work, “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection” at a fall lecture in the museum.

A presentation will recognize Darwin’s contributions at 6:30 pm. on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at the Natural History Museum, located on the third floor of Sandel Hall on the ULM campus.

The featured speaker is Dr. Marvin Jeter who will present, “Human Evolution: 150 years after Darwin’s Origin of Species.”

Jeter earned his Ph.D. in archaeology from Arizona State University in 1977. Since 1978 he has worked as a research station archaeologist for the Arkansas Archaeological Survey, located on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Monticello in southeast Arkansas.

He has previously worked in Alabama, Tennessee, Arizona, and Illinois. Jeter’s major interests are in late prehistoric, protohistoric, and early historic Indian archaeology, as well as the history of archaeology.
