Drum Corps International group makes rehearsal stop at ULM campus July 26-27

The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps will stop by the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus for two days of rehearsal, July 26-27.

The Corps is using ULM's Malone Stadium, the Sound Of Today practice field and the ULM Band Building for rehearsals.

A typical drum corps rehearsal day consists of 10 a.m. visual rehearsals, followed by section practice at 2:15 p.m., ensemble practice at 6:30 p.m., and a show run-through at 9:45 p.m. Rehearsals are generally open to the public.

Dr. Jason Rinehart, director of the ULM Sound of Today marching band, is Brass Caption Head for the Glassmen. ULM Graduate Student Thomas Ruby is part of the teaching staff for the Corps.

The Corps is based in Toledo, Ohio, and is a "non-profit youth organization whose mission is to provide opportunities that promote and develop life skills and personal enrichment through education, participation and performance."

Students are on the road this summer preparing for the DCI World Championship in Indianapolis on Aug. 13.

The group is making the Monroe stop between Drum Corps International Shows scheduled in Dallas and Hattiesburg, Miss.

According to their Web site, "The Glassmen organization is devoted to the education of all the young people it touches, members and fans."
