Abundance of new students prompts addition of extra PREP sessions

The University of Louisiana at Monroe has added an extra PREP session (Preview Registration & Enrollment Program) for incoming Fall 2011 freshmen.

The session will be held Thursday, July 21, and is an orientation program designed to help new students make a smooth transition to college life at ULM.

During PREP, students select fall classes, scope out the campus, and meet their fellow classmates.

Students will also meet with faculty and administrators, take necessary placement exams, change their major if needed, and finally make course selections.

Larger numbers of attendees necessitated that the Office of Recruitment and Admissions add the extra session.

"We wanted to accommodate students who were not able to attend the June sessions," said Lisa Miller, associate provost for enrollment management. "It provides anxious students with the opportunity to address any needs or ask questions."

ULM will also hold a Transfer and Non-Traditional PREP session on July 19.

Late PREP, which is the final opportunity for students to attend orientation, will be Friday, Aug. 19.

For more information and registration, call the PREP Hotline at 318-342-7315 or 1-800-372-5127 or visit ulm.edu/prep.
