ULM’s Jaden Leach prepares for the Miss Louisiana Pageant

Jaden Leach, a ULM elementary education major from West Monroe, is among the contestants vying for the title of Miss Louisiana when the 2011 Miss Louisiana Pageant is held June 23-25 at Monroe Civic Center's W.L. "Jack" Howard Theater. All events will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Leach and the other contestants were introduced earlier this week at the Miss Louisiana Kick-Off Press Conference, followed by a Tuesday luncheon on the ULM campus in which Leach enthusiastically welcomed the 34 other contestants.

"I'm so glad you are all here and I know you will agree that ULM is the most amazing, outstanding, superior college that we think it is!" she said.

Leach was crowned Miss ULM in October 2010.

ULM President Dr. Nick J. Bruno also welcomed the contestants and wished them the best.

"I look forward to seeing you all in a leadership role in the future," he said. "Good luck to you and be sure just to have some fun."

Hope Anderson and Erica Durr are two former Miss ULMs who join Leach in vying for the title of Miss Louisiana 2011.

The current and outgoing Miss Louisiana 2010, Kelsi Crain, a junior kinesiology major at ULM, is performing several dance routines for the pageant.

Crain was crowned Miss Louisiana in June 2010 while also holding the Miss ULM title.
