Sigma Delta Pi at ULM initiates four

The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Lambda Sigma Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the national Spanish honor society, initiated three new members, and Dr. Lucero Flores-Páez as an honorary member, Nov. 15.

The initiates were Marlena Patrick, a chemistry major from Jefferson, Texas; Angélica Trevison, a speech-language pathology major from Ruston; and Natalie Wink, a Spanish education major from West Monroe.

Flores, an assistant professor of foreign languages, has recently joined the faculty at ULM and came from the University of California, Riverside.

The ceremony was conducted by President Raquel Wiggins; Vice President Justin Gwin; and Secretary Julie Landry. The officers were assisted by Sigma Delta Pi members Jesse Boothe and Cassia Carmichael.

Members celebrated the initiation and the birthday of Sigma Delta Pi after the ceremony.

Sigma Delta Pi was established to recognize the accomplishments of students of Spanish.

The national organization was founded on Nov. 14, 1919, and the Lambda Sigma Chapter at ULM was founded 35 years ago.
