ULM Beta Alpha Psi chapter achieves superior level

Members of the University of Louisiana at Monroe Eta Sigma Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi attended the 2011 annual meeting in Denver from Aug. 11 - 13.

For the seventh straight year, the ULM chapter was recognized for achieving the superior level in the annual program for chapter activities.

Chapter Vice President Ashley Dana of Monroe, Treasurer Fernando Cordova of Monroe and Assistant VP Aimee Jackson of West Monroe participated in a community service day coordinated by the United Way of Denver where a myriad of services were provided to the homeless of the area.

The ULM group networked with accounting majors from around the world and professionals representing an extensive list of international firms.

They also attended several professional technical sessions on topics such as "What to Expect in Your First Accounting Job" and "Business Sustainability."

"The BAP annual meeting was a great opportunity and an awesome experience," Jackson said.

"Through this event, I was able to network with peers and companies from across the nation. I was, also, able to give back to the Denver community in a personally rewarding way and advance my leadership skills through conference sessions and volunteer work. I definitely think being a member of any group on campus is an advantage no student should pass up!"

Other students serving as officers for the 2011-12 school year will be President Abram McConnell of Monroe and Secretary Brittany McGee of Jena.
