ULM President announces new tobacco use policy

On April 2, the University of Louisiana at Monroe will implement a new tobacco use policy.

ULM President Nick J. Bruno announced the new policy in a campus-wide email to faculty and staff on March 15.

The new policy includes information on where tobacco will and will not be allowed, including the designation of littering and possible fines for improper tobacco disposal.

A portion of the policy states, "The University of Louisiana at Monroe is committed to promoting and maintaining a healthy work and academic environment. To enable the university to fulfill this commitment, it is necessary that a policy be implemented to bring the university to as close to tobacco free as practicably possible."
