ULM Hawkeye staff wins again

Members of the University of Louisiana at Monroe's student newspaper, The Hawkeye, brought home seven more press awards this week, capping an impressive month for the publication.

The awards were presented at the Louisiana Press Association's annual meeting in Baton Rouge on April 20.

Four members of The Hawkeye were previously honored with awards from the Louisiana/Mississippi Associated Press Managing Editors competition on April 13.

"Our students strive to be the best at what they do, and awards like these certainly encourage them to keep moving toward that goal. I am extremely proud of their accomplishments and their accolades," said Christopher Mapp, ULM director of student publications.

 

Awards:
Cole Avery, a senior mass communications major from Jonesboro won first place for "Best Column."

Srdjan Marjanovic, (B.F.A '12), won two first place awards for "Best News Photo," and "Best Sports Photo." Majanovic also won a second place award for "Best Feature Photo."

The Hawkeye publication received a third place honor for "General Excellence."

DeRon Talley (B.A. '12), received honorable mention for "Best Sports Story or Sports Feature," and Emi McIntyre, a senior art major from Springhill, won honorable mention for "Best News Photo."
