University of Louisiana at Monroe President Dr. Nick J. Bruno accepted the opportunity to serve on the Monroe Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

“My appointment to the Monroe Chamber board is meaningful to the university as it helps me understand the needs of the community,” said Bruno.

“ULM is a very important resource within the city of Monroe, and we strive to provide the city and the region with educated and prepared students for the growing job market. I appreciate the privilege to serve on the Monroe Chamber board; this allows the university an opportunity to play a bigger role in the success of our region.”

Led by President and CEO Sue Nicholson, The Monroe Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to lead in the creation of a thriving business environment.

“Workforce development is a key initiative of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and we understand that a great workforce does not just happen by coincidence,” said Nicholson.

“It evolves out of strategic planning and focused research. Dr. Bruno brings to our board of directors incredible experience in the areas of training and career development.”

New board members, including President Bruno, were recognized at the Monroe Chamber’s annual banquet, held on Jan. 10, at the Monroe Civic Center.
