ULM English professor named Honors Professor of the Year

The University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Dr. Janet Haedicke, professor of English, was named the 2012-2013 Honors Program Professor of the Year.

The award is based on feedback from students in ULM’s Honors Program.

Honors Program Director Dr. Joshua Stockley said, “This award recognizes the contributions of professors willing to go above and beyond the expectations of their departments.

"For years, Dr. Haedicke has taught our freshman English course, perhaps the most important course in the honors curriculum as it not only develops critical writing skills, but serves as their first course and their introduction to the ULM Honors Program.”

Haedicke has taught in the honors program for several years, primarily teaching the honors freshman English course.

She also teaches undergraduate and graduate English courses, including modern drama and Shakespeare.

In addition, Haedicke has published articles on modern and contemporary American drama in numerous critical anthologies, reference volumes, and major journals, including modern drama and American drama.

Haedicke earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Hollins College, and a Master of Arts degree and Ph.D. in English from Louisiana State University.

Haedicke has taught at ULM for over 30 years.
