President's Report 2011-2012: College of Education and Human Development
Dr. Janet Hood-Hanchey (B.A. '70), a member of the ULM Foundation Board of Trustees, is a supporter and advocate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Education and Human Development.
"Aside from the honor of being invited to participate on the Foundation Board, it means so much to have the opportunity to give back to the university that provided me an excellent education at a remarkably reasonable cost," said Hood-Hanchey.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATATION AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
• The CEHD provides northeast Louisiana with 77
percent of its teachers, creating a community
focused atmosphere inside the classroom.
• GetEducated.com recently awarded CEHD
with four "best buy for online degree"
• CEHD's online Master of Art in Teaching, Master in Curriculum & Instruction, Master in Educational Administration, and Master inEducation were all given high overall program rankings as well as affordability rankings. Each program offers students the ability for professional growth, leading to becoming more effective educational professionals in their chosen fields.
She and her husband Keith (B.S. '70), now living in Highland Village, Texas, still provide ongoing support for CEHD and its grads.
The Hancheys have agreed to establish an endowment fund for the students in CEHD that will benefit the college for generations to come.
The Hancheys have also committed to matching funds for CEHD faculty gift donations.
Hood-Hanchey still has strong ties and lasting memories of her alma mater. She asks current and future alums to support their university.
"I am fiercely passionate about what I see as the critical necessity of ULM to the economic viability of Monroe and the region. Our institutions need their alumni as never before in our history. It is time for those of us who reaped the benefits from the years of affordable tuition and conveniently located universities to step up, defend, and give back to the institutions whose affordability and quality launched our career paths."
