a future in business, enjoys the atmosphere
Brook Sebren is a freshman entrepreneurship major from Rayville.
I have one brother, Jared, who is 13 years old.
I am a member of the Campus Activities Board, and I’m the president, the Inter-Fraternity Council Liaison, and also the website administrator of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. I have served as KA pledge class president, historian, recruitment committee chair person, and alumni relations chairman. I have also served as IFC president. I am currently the treasurer.
I have many goals that I wish to accomplish in my life. I plan to graduate in 2011 and then obtain an MBA at ULM. My passion is investment and real estate. Thus, my greatest dream is to own a property investment and brokerage company. Once I earn my master’s, I plan to seek a career in executive level business to support my pursuit of investment.
ULM's campus is looking better each day and as a student, I could not be any prouder of my university. My favorite spot on campus is the sidewalk in front of Starbucks. There is not anything better than drinking a cup of Starbucks coffee outside the store on the patio furniture. Finding a comfortable place to study is vital to succeed in school. Sometimes studying inside can get boring, and I always seem to feel less stressed when I hang out and study outside.
One of my favorite professors is Dr. Gordon Harvey of the history department. Humor is the best way to capture a class’s attention, and Dr. Harvey is very entertaining. Dr. Harvey was always willing to work with me inside and outside of the classroom … I also loved Dr. Harvey’s savvy use of technology. If there was something he felt that neither he nor the book could explain, he would immediately surf the net in class to help us understand. He would also record his lectures and post them on the internet, so students could download them on their IPods. This really helped when it came time to study.
My favorite memory at ULM is tailgating at the Grove and attending the first football game this past season. It was my first time to attend a ULM game. It gave me the chance to hang out with all my fraternity brothers and meet a lot of people, including my girlfriend. The Grove is a great atmosphere full of fun, food, live music, and people. Tailgating and football games are some of the best experiences in college.
The University of Louisiana at Monroe is not just a university. It is a way of life. When a new student enrolls, ULM becomes part of them. It is not only where you go to school, it is where you study, socialize, and live. This university provides a great college atmosphere and offers a variety of activities and organizations--both social and academic--to make your experience the best. I would advise anyone to take advantage of the many things ULM has to offer. ULM will enable you to grow character and define yourself, just as it did me.
