ULM holds annual chili cook-off

The 2002 University of Louisiana at Monroe Chili Cook-off will be held in "The Grove" on Saturday, November 23, 2002. The event will last from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the last ULM home football game beginning at 4:00 in Malone Stadium.

Everyone from ULM and the community are welcome to come cook their chili and enter it in the contest. Teams can enter in one of four divisions: the Student Division, Alumni/Faculty Division, Restaurant Division, and the Open Division.

Participants will be judged on showmanship as well as the chili. Entry fee per team is $20.00 and each team participating will receive a 12-pack of Budweiser beer and a Chili Cook-off apron for the team's Head Cook. Each team must supply all of their own equipment. The chili must also be prepared on site.

Check in and set up is from 8:00 a.m. ­ 9:00 a.m. There will be a head cook's meeting at 9:00 a.m. and showmanship judging from 10:00 a.m. ­ 11:00 a.m. The judging of the chili will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Participants that do not have a designated spot in "The Grove" will be provided an area in the Special Events section of "The Grove".

Sponsoring organizations for the Chili Cook-off are the ULM 31 Ambassadors, the ULM Alumni Association, Marsala Beverage, KAQY ABC 11, and Louisiana Land and Water, Inc.
