Visiting Professor to the Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences

Dr. Wilna Liebenberg, from the Research Institute for Industry at the Potchefstroom University in South Africa, will be visiting the Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences in the School of Pharmacy over the next three weeks. During her visit, she will be working with Dr. Melgardt de Villers and his graduate students on two publications for the International Biopharmaceutical Classification System Database. The Biopharmaceutical Classification System Database is a project of the Special Interest Group for Bioavailability and Bioequivalence of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).

Their reviews will be summarizing solubility, dissolution, and bioavailability data for important anthelmintic and tuberculostatic drugs. From Monroe, Dr. Lievenberg and graduate students Mingna Song, Bharathi Devarakonda and Wenzhang Yang will go to Salt Lake City where they will make six presentations at the annual meeting of the American Association for Pharmaceutical Scientists.
