Warbonnets Win National Championship

The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Warbonnets brought home their first national championship on February 21. The Warbonnets won first place in the high kick category and first place in the pom pon category at the United States Dance/Drill Team Championships. The competition was held in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Warbonnets are composed of 18 girls and dance at the home football games and cheering and dancing at home basketball games. The Warbonnets also provide the opening number and entertainment for the Miss ULM Pageant.

Members of the national championship and their hometowns are Meghan Bibaeff from Lafayette, La; Reagan Boone from Angie, La; Shaylyn Broussard from Maurice, La; Deanna Buchanan from Monroe, La; Courtnei Gabriel from Shreveport, La; Charly Girod from Olla, La; Tricia Green from West Monroe, La; Maegan Guccione from Marrero, La; Allison Heflin from Hosston, La; Ayan Martin from Spring, Tx; Danielle McCraney from Hammond, La; Ashley McGee from Collinston, La; Hannah Porter from Winnfield, La; Danielle Smith from Monroe, La; Mallary Soileau from Pineville, La; Stephanie Swillie from Vicksburg, Ms; Jessie Tyler from Monroe, La; and Erin Yellot from Monroe, La.
