ULM to host regional council meeting of the Louisiana Center for Women and Government

The ULM Conference Center is hosting the first Monroe-West Monroe Regional Council meeting of the Louisiana Center for Women and Government Wednesday, Aug. 23 at noon.

The LA Center for Women and Government promotes networking among women, sponsors college student internships at governmental offices, and annually hosts a Hall of Fame where women leaders from Louisiana are recognized. ULM student Jessica Lenard worked with the Center as an intern this summer.

In order to become more inclusive with other parts of the state, the center has been organizing regional councils in eight areas. The councils will meet twice a year in their particular geographic sections and twice a year statewide.

Beginning next year, each regional council will nominate one woman for the Hall of Fame induction. At the fall statewide meeting, members will select the Hall of Fame recipients. The spring statewide meeting will be the Hall of Fame Luncheon.

The LA Center for Women and Government has been established at Nicholls State University for 16 years. For more information, contact Dr. Alice Pecoraro, director of the Louisiana Center for Women and Government, at 985-448-4770 or by email at lcwg.info@nicholls.edu.
