Putnam named Miss ULM 2007

Katherine Joy Putnam of Oak Grove was crowned Miss ULM 2007 during the 54th Annual Miss University of Louisiana at Monroe Pageant on Oct. 19 in Brown Auditorium. She also won the evening gown, swimsuit and interview portions of the pageant. Putnam, daughter of Byron and Heather, is a sophomore piano performance major.

Other winners include:

Johnson was named Miss Congeniality, and she received the People's Choice Award. Johnson also won the talent portion of the contest. Allison Nicole Johnston, English education major from Rayville, won the Academic Award. Taylor Ashley Barnes, daughter of Debra, a radiologic technology major from Crossett, Ark. won the Advertisement Sales Winner award.

As a result of winning Miss ULM, Putnam will receive a tuition scholarship, private on-campus apartment and bookstore award. Putnam also received a two-semester meal plan from the Campus Activities Board, and a $4000 cash award from the ULM Student Government Association.

Campus Acitivities Board will award a two-semester tuition scholarship to Pang and a one-semester tuition scholarship to Johnson. SGA will award a $1,000 scholarship to Durr and a $750 scholarship to Duke. CAB will award $250 to the Advertisement Sales winner, the People's Choice award, which is voted on by the student body, and the Miss Congeniality award, which is voted on by the contestants. SGA will award $250 to the Academic Award.

Other participants include Heather Davis, a biology major from Houston, Texas, and Mallary Anne Soileau, a kinesiology major from Pineville.

The Miss ULM pageant, sponsored by CAB, is an official preliminary for the Miss Louisiana Pageant, which will be held in Monroe in June.
