Friery nominated for Who’s Who Among American Teachers

Kelly B. Friery, assistant professor of kinesiology, was nominated for Who’s Who Among American Teachers.

In addition to this honor, Friery was awarded Alumnus of the Year at her undergraduate institute, Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala. In the spring of 2007, she was also nominated for Outstanding Dissertation at the University of Alabama.

Friery serves as the director of the Exercise Physiology Lab at ULM, which is overseen by graduate students who are responsible for carrying out numerous studies and presentation of their results in publications.

”I absolutely love ULM, feel very fortunate to be here, and could not be happier,” Friery said. “Lisa Colvin, Wilson Campbell, and Luke Thomas [in particular] have made this place feel like home to me.”

She graduated from JSU (‘01) summa cum laude with a bachelor’s of science degree in education and concentrations in physical education and general sciences, earning the distinction of Top 5 Graduate of her class. She is a former member of JSU Varsity track and cross-country teams, even serving as team captain of the JSU Cross-Country and Track Team (1998-2000).

After receiving a master’s of science degree with a major in physical education in sport science from JSU (’02), Friery then completed her doctoral studies at the University of Alabama in 2005 and was awarded a Ph.D. in human performance in exercise physiology.
