ULM Library hosts “Fading Textures” book-signing Feb. 17

On Feb. 17 at 6 p.m., the Special Collections Department at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will host a lecture and book-signing for “Fading Textures, Vintage Architectures, Industry, and Transportation in Northeast Louisiana” by Lee Estes.

Estes will showcase and discuss photographs from his book and also inform the public of the resources available in ULM Special Collections.

More about ULM Special Collections:

Among the greatest treasures of Special Collections materials are Mr. Durwood Griffin's negatives made during the 1932 Ouachita River Flood, which was devastating to Monroe and West Monroe.

This collection of several hundred negatives, many as large as 8x10 and 5x7, is not readily accessible in its current form. Work has begun to print and digitize these negatives, thereby making them accessible.

As additional funds become available, more of these historic images will be printed for public viewing.
