11th Annual ULM/Tech Graduate Conference scheduled for April 2 at ULM

The 11th Annual ULM/Tech Graduate Conference will occur Thursday, April 2, at the ULM Conference Center, located on the library's seventh floor.

The morning session is scheduled for 11 a.m.-noon and will be moderated by LaRue Sloan, Ph.D., the L.M. McKeely Professor of English Literature at ULM. The afternoon session will occur from 1:15-2:15 p.m. and be moderated by Rob Rudnicki, Ph.D., of Louisiana Tech University.


ULM graduate students will present their papers:

• 11 a.m. - Marilyn Varner of Calhoun; "Who can believe that a woman can do this?": Royal Prerogative and Gender Role Reversals in Beaumont and Fletcher's "The Maid's Tragedy

• 11:15 a.m. - Meghan Maxwell of Calhoun; "'Let's all wear breeches': Insubordination in Fletcher's "The Woman's Prize, or, The Tamer Tamed"'

• 11:30 a.m. - Vanelis Rivera of Christiansted, Virgin Islands; "Lacing Up Sexuality and Unlacing Independence: Moll's Wearing of a Codpiece and Breeches in Middleton and Dekker's "The Roaring Girl"

A general discussion will commence at 11:45 a.m., followed by a luncheon (by reservation).

Louisiana Tech graduate students will present their papers:

• 1:15 p.m. - Ashlee Clark; "Evoking a Mood: The Christian Liturgical Calendar in "Death Comes for the Archbishop"

• 1:30 p.m. - Magin LaSov Gregg; "A 'Behovely' Pain: The Passionate Birth of Christ in the Julian "Showings"

• 1:45 p.m. - Lauren Coleman; "Illegitimacy, Prostitution, and Contagion: How Blindness Mends Esther's Oversight in "Bleak House"

A general discussion will commence at 2 p.m.
