Rep. Frank Hoffmann to speak at ULM Commencement May 16

ULM alumnus Rep. Frank Hoffmann will speak at the ULM Spring Commencement Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m. in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

He was elected as a state representative in 2007. Hoffmann serves as vice chair of the Education Committee. Other committee assignments include Retirement, Ways and Means, and the Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay.

He achieved all three of his degrees at the University of Louisiana at Monroe: a bachelor's in speech and social studies, a master's in elementary education and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction. He has served as an adjunct assistant professor at his alma mater and has been very involved in ULM committees and organizations, including the Alumni Association and his role as the voice of the Warhawks for 34 years, doing radio play-by-play for both football and basketball.

Hoffmann retired as assistant superintendent for the Ouachita Parish School System. His career there spanned positions as elementary teacher, junior high teacher, principal, curriculum supervisor, supervisor of instruction, and personnel director.

His extensive civic involvement includes work with such organizations as the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce, the West Monroe Boys & Girls Club, and the United Way of Ouachita Parish. He is on the board of both Life Choices and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is an adult Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in West Monroe. He has received numerous honors, held many professional memberships and offices, and delivered copious educational presentations.

He is married to fellow alum Susan Gilliam Hoffmann, and they have two children, Matthew and Drew.
