ULM art professor receives grants

University of Louisiana at Monroe faculty member Cliff Tresner recently received a Career Advancement Grant from the Louisiana Division of Art and the Louisiana State Arts Council, and a grant from the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council.

Tresner is an associate professor of art and serves as director of Exhibitions and the ULM Sculpture Garden.

Tresner received the Career Advancement Grant for continued research and production of a series of his drawings. The grant will help Tresner present the artwork in national exhibitions.

He also received a grant from the NLAC for the ULM Sculpture Garden, which changes yearly in April or May. The garden is funded by the Campus Activities Board and provides an outlet for national and ULM student artists to display their work. The grant will be used to support promotion of the sculpture garden and for payment for artist’s services.

“These funds represent how important public support of art and artists really is to the community,” Tresner said. “I’m grateful for the support these projects have received.”
