Newly appointed ULM President to serve as keynote speaker at Fall Commencement

Newly appointed ULM President Dr. Nick Bruno will serve as the keynote speaker for the University of Louisiana at Monroe's 2010 Fall Commencement exercises, scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System named Bruno the eighth president of the University in late October. Before his appointment to the position, Bruno served as the University of Louisiana System's vice president for business and finance and previously also served as ULM's vice president for business affairs.

Born in Hammond and raised in Independence, Dr. Bruno has spent many years in Louisiana higher education, and has collaborated with many of Louisiana's governmental agencies to provide support for the state's universities. He earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi, a Master's of Business Administration from Southeastern University and Bachelor of Science in Accounting, also from Southeastern Louisiana University.

"I am especially looking forward to participating in my first commencement exercise as ULM's new president," said Bruno. "It has been a busy time these last several weeks, but the students, faculty and staff with whom I've had the pleasure of interacting on campus are a truly impressive group. It will be a tremendous honor to not only confer the students their degrees, but deliver the fall commencement keynote for them."
