ULM College of Education offers information session on touted alternative certification program Feb. 22

TEACH Delta Region, an alternative certification program in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, prepares talented individuals to become highly qualified teachers in the delta region.

An information session about the ULM program will be held at 5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22, in Strauss Hall, room 270, according to Project Facilitator DeWanna Greer.

Mid-career professionals and recent college graduates with bachelor degrees who are admitted to the program work toward a Master of Arts in Teaching for elementary, secondary education or mild/moderate special education. Participants will also prepare to pass teacher certification exams such as PRAXIS Principals of Learning and Teaching.

The ULM teacher preparation program received high marks in a 2008 statewide study and was applauded in a New York Times editorial "What Louisiana Can Teach."

For more information on this program, contact TEACH Delta Region at 318-342-3000 or by email at altcert@ulm.edu.
