ULM Cheer/Dance teams compete in nationals Jan. 14-18

On Jan. 12, the University of Louisiana at Monroe Cheerleaders and Pom Line exhibited the routines they will perform during the Universal Cheerleaders Association/Universal Dance Association College Nationals Jan. 14-18.

The cheerleaders return to once again try to gain another championship title, competing in Small Coed Division 1, according to Joanie Williams, ULM coordinator of spirit groups.

“They received a full paid bid to attend nationals since they placed second in taping,” said Williams. “Each squad is required to send a tape in with their teams skills. The videos are judged and the teams who receive first and second place get a full paid bid.”

This will be the first year the ULM Pom Line will compete; the line includes 11 young women who will compete in Division 1A Hip Hop. Colette Boutwell is the coach.
