ULM artists selected to exhibit work in south Louisiana

A faculty member and student from the University of Louisiana at Monroe art department were selected to exhibit their work at Art Melt 2010 in Baton Rouge, July 15-16.

Assistant Professor of Art Dara Engler and student Robert Jones were both selected for the seventh annual exhibition at the Louisiana State Museum. More than 6,000 guests attended the multi-media, multi-sensory event, which featured entries from around the state.

Art Melt is made possible through the support of major sponsor Jones Walker, and the volunteer and leadership efforts of Forum 35, a community of young people dedicated to improving and shaping Baton Rouge.

“Acceptance into a juried exhibition is always an honor,” said Engler.

Engler also recently saw three of her juried paintings reprinted in a prestigious journal collection, New American Paintings. “I feel very lucky to have been represented in such a quality publication,” she said.

Her work is featured in New American Paintings (Juried Exhibitions in Print) 15:3 (2010): 58-61.
